Workshop on Reference Manager

On July 23rd, 2018, the Bioinformatics department conducted a workshop on Reference Manager for the students of BSc Bioinformatics, led by Dr. John J Georrge. He explained the different Reference Managers and its merits and demerits. Among the many Reference Managers, Mendeley and a few other software were explained in detail.

Alumni Interaction
Two alumni Mr. HardikSorathiya and Mr. Vishal Oza attended the interaction. Ms. AnjaniDhrangadhariya who is one of the alumnus joined through Skype. They shared their experience and interesting moments of campus life.Mr. HardikSorathiya is working in Premier Medical Corporate Pvt Ltd, Vapi where he is doing his current research work. He explained about the other projects and researches he did at NIMHANS, Bangalore and Vellore Institute of Technology.Ms. AnjaniDhrangadhariya gave us the guidance regarding the important prospects in pursuing further studies in abroad. Mr. Vishal Oza, who is doing the PhD University of Alabama, USA emphasized the importance of critical thinking and also shared his research work in brief.

Video Lecture 
On 9 August 2018, Bioinformatics department conducted a video lecture for the FY, SY &, TY students of BSc Bioinformatics, Under the supervision of department faculty members, the students in-charges of the session carried out the task quite proficiently. The videos mainly focused on the Human Genome Project. Throughout the video lecture, students understood the concept behind the achievement of the HGP, what is sequencing, what are the methods to sequence genome and its benefits. Students also got to know about their mission to successfully sequence the human genome uptown an accuracy of 99.99 percent.
