The Department of Arts and Social Work at Christ College, Rajkot, stands as a beacon of academic excellence, offering a diverse array of programs that cater to the intellectual and societal needs of our students. Established in 1998, the department has been steadfast in its commitment to providing quality education in the realms of humanities and social sciences.

At the postgraduate level, we offer two Master's Degree Programs: MA English and MSW, providing students with the opportunity to delve into the depths of these disciplines, fostering critical thinking and holistic development. Furthermore, our undergraduate programs include BA English, BA Psychology, and BJMC (Journalism and Mass Communication) designed to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their chosen fields. The medium of instruction is English, reflecting our dedication to promoting proficiency in this global language. Our department's unwavering dedication to academic excellence continues to shape the future of our students, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to excel in their chosen fields and contribute meaningfully to society.

Vision

To stimulate an academic environment for the promotion of teaching, learning and research in the field of English language and literature and Psychology, to raise the standard of English, spoken and written, to introduce the students to diverse avenues and initiate PG courses as well as certificate courses.

from the HoD

In highly globalized world, it is a privilege to read, think, discuss and critique ideas that have shaped the world over centuries. The Department of Arts is dynamic at providing communally relevant and industry related set of courses with technology enabled teaching and learning processes. We have a team of creatively empowered staff members capable of organization of events and providing value added training to students.

The distinctive feature of the program is that we are the only department providing functional English papers in Saurashtra region. These papers include Phonetics, Functional Grammar, Media, Creative writing and Translation Studies which equip students with real life functional aspect of English language.

Creative Zone (Departmental club) is instrumental in enhancing the students' creative talents through activities spread across the year. Poster presentations, debates, poetry writing, dramatic performances and various competitions are organized as part of the club activities to provide the students a platform to express their ideas and project their talents and skills.
BA department is often termed BA Family by the students and staff as a special emphasis is laid on maintaining an excellent rapport with the students through interaction and advising, which in turn serves to inspire them to strive for the best.
