Chemistry plays a vital role in everyone's lives and touches almost every aspect of our existence in some way. Chemistry is essential for meeting our basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, health, energy, and clean air, water, and soil. Chemistry is also important because everything you do is chemistry! Even our body is made of chemicals. All matter is made of chemicals, so the importance of chemistry is that it's the study of everything. Chemistry can be called ‘CENTRAL SCIENCE’ because it is the science that links all the sciences with each other whether it is Biology, Physics, Geology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Nanotechnology, Environmental science etc. Acquiring a degree in chemistry opens a multitude of doors for graduates for a variety of educational or professional opportunities from chemical engineer to lecturer to pharmacologist to chemist, career opportunities are vast. Most of the students have been well placed either in Industries or Educational fields or as Entrepreneurs. It has been said a Chemist never stays unemployed.

The Department of Chemistry in Christ College, Rajkot has started on 1998 with three year undergraduate program and two-year M.Sc. Chemistry specialization started on 2022. The medium of instruction is English. Moreover, the department has qualified faculties with PhD degree.

Department of Chemistry has qualified and experienced teachers, a well-equipped laboratory and a great library as well.
