Seminar on Awareness & Career Opportunities in the Indian Navy

The Career & Placement Cell of Christ College Campus, Rajkot, organized an enriching seminar on "Awareness & Career Opportunities in the Indian Navy" with the objective of introducing students to the diverse career avenues available in one of India's premier defence services. The programme was graced by Commander David S. Thokchom, a serving officer in the Indian Navy, who served as the resource person for the session. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Rev. Fr. Jomon Thommana, Director of Christ College Campus, who felicitated the distinguished guest with a memento as a token of appreciation. The programme was also attended by Dr. Yvonne Fernandes, Principal, along with faculty members and over 200 students. 

 

During his address, Commander Thokchom provided valuable insights into the organizational structure, operational capabilities, technological advancements, and diverse branches of the Indian Navy. He elaborated on various entry schemes, eligibility criteria, training programmes, and career opportunities available for both men and women. Emphasizing the values of discipline, integrity, courage, and leadership, he encouraged students to view the armed forces as a platform for personal excellence and dedicated national service. The session concluded with an engaging interactive discussion in which students enthusiastically sought guidance on recruitment procedures, physical standards, and life in the Navy. The seminar proved to be highly informative and inspiring, broadening students' understanding of career prospects in the Indian Navy while instilling a strong sense of patriotism, responsibility, and commitment to serving the nation.
