Department of Computer Applications

The Department of Computer Applications has started the course of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science in the year 1999. Principal areas of study within Computer Applications include computer systems and networks, security, database systems, visuals and graphics, numerical analysis, programming languages, mobile application programming, software engineering, and theory of computing. Unlike computer engineers, computer scientists deal mostly with software systems; which includes their theory, design, development and implementation.

15 batches of BCA and B.Sc. Computers have been successfully passed out till date.  Every year students are widely selected and working with following major companies.

UGC Sponsored DMA Course:

This course is to prepare IT professionals with special skill of mobile application development. The Students and professionals who will undergo this course will be able to learn Java based mobile application development which includes majority of the overall mobile phone market.

Total Intake:   30 students Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: Students who passed 10+2 with science and basic knowledge of computer programming(C or other equivalent programming knowledge).

UGC Sponsored CCMA [Certificate Course in Multimedia and Animation]

Highlights of the course:

  • Complete multimedia and animation career program.
  • Includes concepts based modules like design, visualization fundamentals, graphics and illustration and concepts of advertising.

Syllabus includes Photoshop, CorelDraw, 3D max, Flash, Audio and video editing.

Program duration and intake:  300 hours and 30 students in one batch.

Department of Computer Applications is having 2 well equipped Computer Labs with almost 85 desktop computers with latest configuration and Internet facility in LAN environment and also having MAC systems for the students of the department. Department also have ICT based teaching methods which includes multimedia projectors and LAN teaching methodology.

Department of Computer Application maintains Department Library and keeps books and magazines from various IT areas like, DBMS, Computer Organization and Architecture, Mobile Programming, Web Enabled Application Development, Networking and Internet Environment and Advanced Java Programming. It also maintains e-library for the same subjects and study materials.


The Department of Computer Applications is constantly encouraging students to participate in various events across the country and also abroad.

In the academic year 2015-16 students of BCA SEM VI has participated in International Conference at Pattaya, Bangkok and won the BEST Paper Award. Along with that department has organized various activities throughout the year which includes;

  • Quiz Competition for the students of Christ College, Rajkot.
  • Expert Talk by Dr. Atul Gonsai, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Saurashtra University, Rajkot.
  • LAN Gaming Competition for the students of Christ College, Rajkot.
  • National Level Event - TechArena 2016 for the UG students of IT and Engineering.
