Christ College epitomizes the quest for excellence in higher education. Established in 1998 and inaugurated on December 25, 2001 and launched into fame by the eminent scientist and later President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Christ College has the distinction of being the first multi-faculty coeducational English medium college in Arts, Science and Commerce. It provides quality education to the youth so as to enable them to take up the challenges of tomorrow. The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, under the strengthen component of DBT Star College scheme, sanctioned the mentioned scheme to our college in April 2020. The Departments sanctioned are Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Chemistry and Physics. The Scheme was implemented from the academic year 2020-21. With the support of scheme, the physical infrastructure of the departments has been updated quantitatively and qualitatively which has helped each student to enhance their practical skills through “Hands-On” training and workshop. In addition, Minor Research Projects have inculcated the value of research skills in young minds. It has provided broader exposure to the students by facilitating visits to academic and research institutes. Providing assistance to conduct Faculty Development Programmes, the scheme has also encouraged the faculty members to update themselves by.
