INAUGURATION OF THE WOMEN CELL & EXPERT LECTURE

Inauguration of the women cell was held on 7th August 2018 in the main Conference Hall, Christ College. The program began with a prayer song by Ms. Kinjal Parmar and Ms. Ashvini Rajyguru. Women Cell was inaugurated by Dr. Kuntal Jadeja, Secretary of Obstetrics and Gynecological society Rajkot, Dr. Yvonne Fernandes, Principal Christ College, Staff and Student Coordinators of Women Cell by lighting of the lamp in the presence of girl students and female staff. Welcome speech was given by Mrs. Neha Jangbari, Staff Coordinator, Women Cell & Presentation of AAROHAN, Christ Women Cell was given by Ms. Kinjal Patel, President of the cell. The anchoring was done by Ms. Hetvi Raval & Ms. Dimpi. Inauguration ceremony was followed by an expert lecture. As a token of appreciation, memento was offered to Dr. Kuntal Jadeja by Dr.Yvonne Fernandes, Principal Christ College.

Dr. Kuntal Jadeja had delivered a lecture on “Health and Hygiene”. She explained in detail the process of menstruation with its cause and importance. She advised girls to change their perception about periods as there is nothing unclean or shameful about the process. She explained side effects in terms of physical changes and behavioural issues occurring during menstruation due to imbalance of various hormones. She has given dietary tips during periods just to minimize such problems. Adequate nutrition is important during the young adult years for proper growth & development. Madam counselled that focusing on including the necessary nutrients in a young women’s diet can help them to have more energy & be healthier. By the example of nutritive food stuff she convinced girls that how such food decreases the risk of iron deficiency “anemia”.

Madam explained that healthy eating contributes overall healthy growth. Her main concern was to educate girls about potential risks to health of poor menstrual hygiene. To avoid such risks, she has listed out hygiene practices that should be followed by wonderful presentation. She has sensitized girls by discussing “Nine Movement”, a public campaign for every women’s menstrual need and rights.

At the end, Ms. Dharti Bhadla, President of the Women cell proposed vote of thanks.
