National Summit on Innovation and Technology

About NSIT: National Summit on Innovation and Technology is organized as a pre-vibrant Gujarat Global Summit event. The Summit intents to provide an effective platform to pulling to experts, professionals, software solution providers, industry leaders, academia, start-ups to participate, interact, exchange, opinions, views, discuss issues and analyze solution frame works.

Organizers: Gujarat Government: Department of Science & Technology, Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM).

The students of Bioinformatics, Christ College, had been to the conference in Gandhi Mandhir at Gandhinagar on the 30th of September 2016, along with the department of Biotechnology students, under the guidance of Dr. John J. Georrge and Ms. Rutvi Chovatiya from Bioinformatics department along with Dr. Charmi Kothari and Dr. Padma Ambalam from Biotechnology department. For most of the students this was the first experience being amidst a vast group of scientists and scholars in the fields of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. As it was a huge program, it was scheduled for two days. Of which our students attended the first day. The inauguration was led by the Mission Director, GSBTM welcoming the great assembly, followed by the Introduction by the Secretary of the department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Gujarat. The keynote was addressed by Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy, who is the Founder and Executive Chairman, Cyient. Keynote Address (BT) by the Secretary of the Dept. of Biotechnology, GoI. Release of Biotechnology Documents & Souvenirs, Release of compendium of 101 State e- Governance Projects was successfully conducted. At the end of the session, Shri Vijay Rupani, Honorable Chief Minister, addressed the assembly. After a short break of 15mins, the first session started with the “Biotechnology - Technologies within reach: Technologies on Horizon” by various Doctors and scientists in the field. Parallel exhibition was organized which involving various biological and technical aspects like the tissue culturing, issues during pregnancy period, use of biodegradable substances, etc. After lunch break was the session on another BT concept of “Biotechnology - Genetics: Paradigm Shift in Healthcare”. The third session of the day was regarding Bioinformatics. Many doctors in the field presented / shared their experiences and the latest advancement in the specific area. Firstly, Dr. Mugasimangalam C Raja, Founder & CEO explained about the “Big Data Analytics”. Then, Dr. Rajendra Joshi, C-DAC, Pune, shared his thoughts and experience on “Genotypic Advances in algorithm software and pipeline development for omics”. Dr. Ramesh Hariharan, the CTO explicated the “Strand Life Sciences”. “Harnessing the Potential and Opportunities of Bioinformatics market” was elucidated by Dr. Ramesh Hariharan, the Moderator of CTO. Finally, the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ramesh Hariharan. And the schedule for the day was a grand success. Thus, the students enjoyed being a part of the assembly, gaining knowledge by actually experiencing the need for the innovation and technology to reach the goal of “Make in India” which is the dream of India.
