National Conference on Quality Enhancement and Sustenance in Teaching, Learning and Evaluation in Higher Education 2016

Christ College, Rajkot organized a One Day National Conference on Quality Enhancement and Sustenance in Teaching, Learning and Evaluation in Higher Education on 20th August, 2016. The aim of the conference was to discuss various parameters of education through talks and paper presentations.  The chief guest of the conference was Prof. (Dr.) Pratapshinh Chauhan, Honourable Vice Chancelor, Saurashtra University, Rajkot. The keynote speakers were Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Deputy Advisor, NAAC, Bangalore and Dr. Narendra Chotaliya, Joint CEO KCG Gandhinagar, The conference was divided into three sessions: Inaugural Session including keynote address, Second Keynote Address and Paper Presentations. The conference was from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and attended by over 150 participants.

Inaugural Session

The Inaugural Session started with the lightning of the lamp by Dr. Pratapshinh Chauhan, Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Dr. Narendra Chotaliya, Dr. Dharam Kamabliya, Syndicate member, Saurashtra University, Dr. Hardevsinh Jadeja, Syndicate member, Saurashtra University, Father Benny, Director, Christ Campus, Dr. Yvonne Fernandes Principal, Christ College, Dr. K.J. Thankachan Principal, CIM, Ms. Nymphya Gogia, Principal Christ Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Yvonne Fernandes, Principal, Christ College welcomed all the dignitaries and participants of the conference.  Dr. Pratapshinh Chauhan spoke on the challenges in education faced by the University and the steps taken to overcome them.

Dr. Ganesh Hegde explained various nuances in the preparation of SSR for NAAC.  He discussed the importance of Mentoring, Quality Circle, Keizen Principle, Classroom activities, Practical Training in the first session and it was well explained with first hand experiences of his assessment of various colleges.

Second Session

Resource Person: Dr. Narendra Chotaliya

Dr. Narendra Chotaliya, explained The World University Ranking System, the various criterion for the same and position of our universities in the world ranking. He also gave information about the different agencies in India which work for assessment of higher educational institutes, statistics of NAAC accredited colleges and universities and the weightage of Teaching and Learning evaluation in NAAC.
